YouTube wants to depose Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart

August 13, 2007 12:53 PM PDT

Let’s see how funny Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are on the witness stand.

The two comedians are apparently being dragged into the copyright fight between their employer and Google. Entertainment conglomerate Viacom, the company behind Stewart’s The Daily Show and The Colbert Report filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Google last year, alleging that Google and YouTube encourage users to pirate copyright material…

Flex and PHP: Party in the Front, Business in the Back

by Cal Evans (editor) | 5 comments | Wednesday, May 9, 2007

I love useless demo applications. It keeps me from worrying about what I’m building and allows me to concentrate on how I’m building it. The demo I’m presenting here, a Feed Reader for DevZone, is just such an application. It’s almost wholly useless in and of itself but it allows me to showcase one way of using Flex, PHP and the Zend Framework together. If you want to see a more serious Feed Reader, check out http://dougmccune.com/flex/zomgzrss/. Now that’s just cool…..

Papervision3D :: Frustum (AWESOME LINK!!!)

I've not really had the time to sift through the sources for
Papervision as much as I'd like so excuse the potentially uninformed
question...

I've seen many of the demos that use more advanced materials such as
lit shading, reflectivity, cel shading ,bump mapping, etc. I don't
seem to see any classes for any of these in the 1.5 release. I'm
aware these are probably very experimental right now but is it
possible to achieve something simple such as smooth lit shading? I
can guess as to how to hack something together but given my timetable
on client projects, I thought some of the code might already be
available even if in simple form.

I've checked out Away3D and was impressed but since my projects have
already been utilizing Papervision it could be more work to switch APIs.

	Any help would be appreciated.

Keynote meets Papervision3D

Since a few weeks I got my own first iMac. This week Apple iWork 08 was released and I really love the transition effects of Keynote (especially the new ones). Today I played a few hours on getting some of them built in Flash. Let me introduce my assistants: Papervision3D for 3D rendering, Tweener for animation and I also used the Relfection class from Flash Dev….
